Guardiola Confident Man City Are Battle Ready for Real Madrid Showdown

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has declared that his players are fully prepared to face Real Madrid in Tuesday’s Champions League play-off clash.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, the Spanish tactician emphasized the need for City to elevate their performance to overcome the Spanish giants.

“The draw is the draw, and we accept the challenge,” Guardiola said.

“Definitely. There are few clubs in Europe with a history like this (Real’s).”

Acknowledging City’s struggles in the group stage, Guardiola admitted they were now in their rightful place.

“We have not done, let’s say, ‘quite well’ in the group stage, so we deserve to be where we are.”

He also noted the challenges both teams faced due to injuries but praised Real Madrid for maintaining top form.

“I don’t know. I think both teams have had problems in terms of injuries during the season. I think Madrid handle it much better than us because they are still top of the league and fighting against Atletico Madrid. That shows again the consistency they have.”

Guardiola concluded by highlighting the formidable nature of Real Madrid and the need for City to deliver their best across both legs.

“At the end they are a huge competitor. We know it. We have faced them many times and how in the tough moments they bring the best of them – we know it. Of course, we have to make two good games to go through.”
