Xabi Alonso expresses trust in Victor Boniface after goal-scoring return

Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has revealed his unwavering confidence in Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface, even amid the transfer speculation linking him to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.

Boniface marked his first start since recovering from injury with a goal in Leverkusen’s 3-1 victory over Hoffenheim in Sunday’s Bundesliga match.

Alonso, reflecting on the match, shared his thoughts on Boniface’s performance and mental state following the recent transfer rumors.

“I always have trust. It was an important moment for him after his injury. The situation last week was a bit strange, unpleasant,” Alonso stated.

“It was important that he felt important again, felt the love of the fans, that’s important for the mind.”
