‘No way back’ for Rashford at United – Ferdinand

England forward Marcus Rashford has been told there may be “no way back” for him at Manchester United following criticism from manager Ruben Amorim over his professionalism.

Rashford, 27, last featured for United on December 12. Amorim recently made a scathing remark, stating he would prefer to have 63-year-old goalkeeper coach Jorge Vital in his squad over “a player who doesn’t give the maximum every day.”

Former United defender Rio Ferdinand, a six-time Premier League champion, believes Rashford will need to leave Old Trafford after such comments.

“If I was the player the manager said that about, my heart, my pride, my ego—it’s embarrassment,” Ferdinand shared on his Rio Presents YouTube channel.

“For someone to question your application and effort, saying you’re taking shortcuts—that’s a damning comment. There’s no way back for Marcus after that. If he did return, it would send the wrong message, suggesting others could also slack off and return to the fold.”

Premier League title winner Chris Sutton echoed Ferdinand’s sentiment, urging Rashford to adjust his attitude.

“He’s too big for his boots,” Sutton said on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club. “What Amorim said is quite basic: he’s just asking Rashford to apply himself fully every day.

“For some reason, Rashford is not doing that, and it’s totally unacceptable. We know how brilliant he can be. Amorim has reached his last resort, and he’s within his rights to expect full commitment.
