Bukayo Saka Tipped To Quit Arsenal If…

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has been tipped to quit the club if the Gunners stop competing for silverware.

The winger hasn’t won a major trophy since Arsenal lifted the FA Cup in 2020, with his team narrowly missing out on the Premier League title in each of the last two seasons.

Saka has developed into one of the best attacking players in the Premier League over the last few years.

The 23-year-old has already made 243 appearances for his boyhood club, bagging 64 goals and 59 assists.

Saka penned fresh terms at the Emirates Stadium in May 2023 and is currently contracted to the club until the summer of 2027.

But Arsenal icon Alan Smith thinks Gunners boss Mikel Arteta needs to deliver to convince the England international to stay at the club.

“It’s hard to say whether I think he’ll stay at Arsenal for a long time as it always depends on where the club is and if they’re challenging for honours,” Smith told Mega Dice as he spoke about Saka. “If they are, then a lot of top-class players will feel like there’s no need to move.

“I think Saka is one of those players, but if there’s a dip in the club’s fortune – you want to be winning trophies – and I’m sure Saka falls into that category.

“I would classify Saka as world class, but I never really know what that means. You can’t overlook what he does week-in, week-out for Arsenal as well as doing ever so well for England as well.

“He’s a brilliant player with a great attitude to the game and is very tough to tie down when he’s in form.”

And Smith has played down the Gunners’ title hopes this season. “I’m not as confident in Arsenal’s title chances now as I was at the start of the season,” the 62-year-old added.

“You can’t be [confident] with the gap that is there to Liverpool. None of us thought the season would pan out the way it has so far with Liverpool being the trailblazers and Manchester City dropping off in the way that they have.

“Arsenal have got some serious work to do to bridge that gap and there’s less margin for error now – they’ve got to go on a long winning streak. They’ll be hoping Liverpool and Man City draw [at the weekend] so they gain a couple of points provided they win [against West Ham].”
