(FULL LIST): Ruben Amorim Will Unable To Work With 13 Players At Manchester United

Ruben Amorim will be unable to work with thirteen players when he officially joins Manchester United next week because they are on international duty.

The 39-year-old will begin his new role during the November break, and while he’ll be able to drill his fresh approach into the majority of senior players, thirteen key stars won’t meet their new boss just yet.

Amorim took charge of his final game as Sporting Lisbon manager on Sunday and will permanently replace Erik ten Hag on a two-and-a-half-year deal at Old Trafford. He has yet to obtain a visa and can’t lead training until it comes through, but the club don’t expect there to be any issues with Amorim expected to be overseeing training soon.

Diogo Dalot, Bruno Fernandes, Lisandro Martinez, Alejandro Garnacho, Christian Eriksen, Rasmus Hojlund, Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee, Noussair Mazraoui, Victor Lindelof, Manuel Ugarte, Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir will all be away international duty over the next couple of weeks so won’t be involved in his initial sessions.

Amorim will have plenty of time to work with several others though including Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo, Casemiro, Mason Mount, Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro. His first game in charge of United isn’t until Sunday November 24 against Ipswich Town, so he has plenty of time to familiarise himself with the new surroundings of the training complex in Carrington.

The Portuguese manager will be hoping to continue the impressive form shown under interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy – United are unbeaten in their last four games. “From tomorrow, I will be getting behind our new coach, Ruben Amorim, and I urge everyone who loves the club to do the same,” wrote Van Nistelrooy in his programme note.

It’s widely expected Amorim will deploy a 3-4-3 system which United’s stars aren’t used to playing. The players who haven’t been called up will be grateful for the time they have to get used to the new way of doing things, but those who are away will be playing catch up.
