Super Falcons edge South Africa in Olympics qualifiers

Captain, Rasheed Ajibade’s 43rd minute goal handed the Super Falcons of Nigeria a narrow 1-0 win over continental rivals, South Africa, in the first leg of qualifiers for football event of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The game was played at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, on Friday.

Randy Waldrum’s ladies kept their slender lead through the second half despite the South Africans efforts to get back in the game.

The Falcons will now have to preserve their advantage in the 2nd leg in Pretoria on Tuesday April 9.

The winner of the tie will qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris.
