‘I have contract’ – Amorim

Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim has ruled out the possibility of replacing Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool at the end of the season.

Amorim insisted he is ‘very happy’ at Sporting, adding that he has a contract.

According to him, he is only focused on their games to come this season, despite links with replacing Klopp as Liverpool’s head coach.

Amorim is the favourite among the bookmakers to be the next permanent Liverpool manager after Xabi Alonso announced his decision to stay at Bayer Leverkusen next season.

Speaking about reports linking him with the Liverpool job, the 39-year-old said in his post-match interview after his side’s win at Estrela on Friday night: “Liverpool? Right now, I’m just focused on Sporting.

“I am very proud to be Sporting’s manager. I have a contract, and even more importantly than that, I’m very happy here. My focus is on beating Benfica.”
