Xabi Alonso confirms club he’ll coach next season
Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso has said Victor Boniface is not ready to return to action following his injury lay-off, DAILY POST reports.
Alonso revealed that his initial plan was to feature the Nigerian in next Wednesday’s DFB Pokal semi-final clash with Fortuna Dusseldorf.
The Spaniard has however said the Nigerian needs more time to attain full match fitness.
“For Victor Boniface we’ll wait a little longer. The idea is that he will be back in the squad on Wednesday. Exequiel Palacios and Arthur won’t be there tomorrow either,” Alonso told a press conference on Friday.
Boniface returned to full training this week after spending around three months on the sidelines due to an adductor injury.
The 23-year-old has registered 16 goals and eight assists in 23 appearances across all competitions for Die Werkself this season.
