As the 13th edition of the All African Games in Accra, Ghana winding down, the Lagos State discovered and nurtured Boxers have shown their prowess in the art of boxing. Omole Dolapo, a fast-rising boxer did not relent on his oars as he put up another remerkable show to win a gold medal in the 57kg men’s category. Having bagged a slot in the African Olympics Qualifiers in Dakaar, Senegal to fly the country’s colours in the 2024 Paris Olympics Games in France, Dolapo will continue to build on his fine form as he looks forward to represent Nigeria on the global stage.

Another gold medal from Orakwe Blessing in the women’s 70kg took Nigeria to the pinnacle of boxing event.

Kareem Shukurat won a silver medal in the women’s 54kg category while her counterpart Adeshina Zainab also grabbed a silver medal in the women’s 50kg to add to the tally of team Nigeria of eight gold and two silver medals.

Lagos athletes made their experience count in their different disciplines as they are committed to their art and not giving their opponents any chance to penetrate.

Their heroics displayed at the multi-sports event at the continental level exemplifies the role of the Lagos State government in developmental programmes and critical investment in sports infrastructure.
