Woeful Flying Eagles crash out after defeat to Senegal

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria have been eliminated from the African Games 2023 following a 3-2 defeat to Senegal.

Ladan Bosso’s side needed just a point from the game to secure their passage into the semi-finals but were bundled out after losing their second game of the competition.

Nigeria got off to a perfect start with Charles Agada netting the curtain raiser in the second minute.

Senegal fought their way back with Idrissa Gueye scoring two quick goals.

The Flying Eagles equalised through Chibueze Izuogu five minutes after the break.

Senegal scored the winning goal five minutes after the hour mark.

They held on to the lead despite being reduced to 10-men later in the game.

The Flying Eagles finished third in the group with three points from three games.
