Director General Fatodu Holds Strategic Meeting with Lagos Sports Association Chairmen

The Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu held a strategic meeting with Chairmen of Sports Associations to seek their support towards the development of sports in the state, and how to achieve the mission and vision of the Sports Commission in taking sports to the next level.

The meeting was held at the Sports Bar,Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos on Friday.

During the meeting, the Director General reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Sports Commission, under his leadership, to the welfare of athletes and steadfast support for sports stakeholders with the ultimate aim of positioning Lagos State as a global center of sporting excellence.

The gathering facilitated constructive discussions and knowledge exchange on critical issues, all aimed at accelerating sports development in Lagos state. It also laid the foundation for continued engagement and collaboration.

Fatodu said his administration will be active and inspire sporting activities that will engage the youth meaningfully.

Fatodu stressed that there will be a limit to fixation on particular sports, stating further that there will be a plethora of sporting activities to showcase that Lagos State is the sports hub in Nigeria.

“We need more coordination, direction and support across board for us to collaborate and partner to have sustainable and realistic sports development in Lagos State,” he said.

He also reiterated his commitment, readiness, and determination to achieve new, different, productive and sustainable achievements in the sporting history of Lagos State.

“Our determination is to grow raw talents who can continue to be the stars, who will win laurels in Lagos, Nigeria and at the global stage. Mr. Governor is devoting so much in terms of human resources and material resources to ensure that we have more development within our sporting ecosystem. So, there should be focus not just on growth we must now focus on retention of these talents.

“We can use our own capacity and ability to either export these talents for our economic growth or for more attention in terms of entertainment or changing the perspective generally in terms of what Lagos is contributing to the pool.”

While commending the role of the association chairmen in driving the wheel of sports development, he assured them that it will be a season of glory in different ways, from the perspective of improved welfare for athletes and robust support for all th sports associations.

The association chairmen unanimously pledged their unwavering support to the Lagos State Sports Commission to empower young talents through developmental programmes.
