Injured Troost-Ekong To Undergo Minor Surgery

William Troost-Ekong has arrived in Finland to undergo a minor surgery. The Super Eagles vice-captain sustained the injury during Nigeria’s second Group A game at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Troost-Ekong, who featured for 90 minutes in game, netted the winner for the West Africans from the spot in the 55 minutes.

The centre-back missed Nigeria’s final group game against Guinea-Bissau due to the injury.

The defender however returned for the Round of 16 victory against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

The 30-year-old also played every minutes of the Super Eagles next three games.

Troost-Ekong, who scored three goals for the Super Eagles at the 2023 AFCON finals was named Player of the Tournament.

He is expected to return to play for Greek side PAOK Salonica towards the end of the season.
