Cristiano Ronaldo on Saturday overtook Lionel Messi in non-penalty goals for club and country after scoring in Al-Nassr’s 2-1 win against Al-Fateh in the Saudi Pro League.
The Portugal captain, who scored the winner in the AFC Champions League Round of 16 first leg at Al-Feiha in midweek, opened the scoring inside 17 minutes against Al-Fateh.
Salem Al Najdi restored parity for Al-Fateh 12 minutes later. However, Otavio’s 72nd-minute winner sealed all three points for the host.
The result means Al-Nassr are four points behind leaders Al-Hilal, who have a game in hand. However, Ronaldo’s latest goal was his 715th non-penalty strike for club and country, as per Sport Bible.
