Rivers Hoopers on Saturday emerged champions of the 2023 NBBF Premier Basketball League, defeating hard-fighting Nigeria Customs Basketball team 77-57 points in the last game of matchday 3 of the final 4, held in Port-Harcourt.
Rivers Hoopers won the title for a record 5th time, having claimed the title in 2011, 2012, 2019, 2021and 2023 respectively, and would be representing Nigeria at the prestigious BAL championship, for the second time. In the run up to the finals, Hoopers, known as the KingsMen, played a total of 13 games without defeat, including three important wins in the final four.
Speaking at the end of the intense game that had the impressive crowd singing and dancing excitedly, President of Nigeria Basketball Federation, Engr. Musa Kida, expressed his satisfaction with the successful conclusion of this year’s premier basketball league.
He praised the Rivers State Government for hosting a top class championship, even as he added that Rivers Hoopers, would be worthy representative of Nigeria at the BAL championship.
