Paris 2024 Hockey: South Africa Make Clean Sweep, Beat Nigeria, Egypt

South Africa has picked men’s and women’s Hockey tickets to the Paris 2024 Olympics at the expense of Egypt and Nigeria in the Men’s and Women’s final of the Africa qualifying tournament on Sunday at the University of Pretoria, South Africa.

South Africa manhandled Nigeria 9-0 in the final of the Women’s game to qualify for the Olympics.

The Ladies from South Africa gave no room for an upset as they quickly seized the initiative and took total control to complete a double over the Nigeria hockey whom they defeated by 4-0 in the opening game.

In the men’s final, South Africa edged Egypt 2-1 to claim the ticket as well, making it a clean sweep of the Olympic Hockey tickets.

Lombard did not allow Nigeria to settle as she gave the host an early lead in the first minutes of the encounter, and she went on the score a hat-trick.

Du Toit Jean-Leigh, Bobbs Quanita, Wood Bianca, Augousti Taheera, Isaacs, Paris-Gail, and Paton Kristen all recorded their names on the score sheet while Nigeria failed to break South Africa’s defence.

It was a fight-to-finish in the men’s team as Ryan Julius scored the winning goal that separated the two sides.
