The final match to decide the winner of the Epe Conference between Odion Ighalo FC handled by former Julius Berger captain, Ambrose Duru and De Elites, was expectedly an high-octane game that was end-to-end actions and kept fans at the venue, on their toes throughout the game.
De Elites proved to be worthy finalists and asked several questions of the defence line of the Ighalo FC that was marshalled by Justice Ohanusi and with dare-devil saves by goalkeeper Idowu Abiodun.
After a scoreless first half, the second stanza began in similar all-actions from both sides, until red-shot striker Michael Nwachukwu scored the goal that separated both teams in the 53rd minute. Interestingly, it Nwachukwu’s 5th goal in two matches. Even as Yusuf Fawaz also of Ighalo FC claimed the highest scorer award with 6 goals, in as many games.
A total of 40 goals was scored in 13 matches of the Epe Conference making it the highest goals scored in the championship,so far.
