NBBF Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball League Dunks Off In Lafia
As the second phase of the NBBF/Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball League resumes Monday in Lafia, Nasarawa State, the board of Nigeria Basketball Federation led by Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida has reiterated its steadfast commitment to the growth and development of the game in Nigeria.
After a long, but induced hiatus, the national basketball leagues have resumed. And the vibes have been positive. That female basketball teams from different parts of Nigeria are now actively involved is no longer news. Development of the game has become the unflinching focal point of the Musa Kida-led NBBF.
With the resumption of the local basketball leagues and coming after the epochal and the successfully held FIBA Pre-Olympic Qualifiers in Lagos, the NBBF, has reaffirmed its total commitment to the growth and development of the game in Nigeria.
According to the NBBF President, Musa Kida, Nigeria Basketball has continually set an enviable benchmark for the organisation, development and growth of basketball in Nigeria and Africa.
“We acknowledge the challenges in our selfless quests to ensure that basketball is appropriately developed in Nigeria. We’re undaunted. This board of the NBBF remains committed, despite the perennial paucity of funds bedeviling the development of sports in Nigeria.
“As we really look forward to the government to ensure refunds of monies expended by this board of the NBBF to execute several past and present continental and global assignments and competitions, we want to consolidate on the recent achievements of our national teams.
“Without adequate funding and preparations, our various national teams cannot achieve our desired goals.
“The NBBF board believes that the newly appointed sports minister is equally capable and committed to the development of sports in Nigeria. And our prayers are that his tenure would be positively beneficial to Nigerian sports, ” Kida prayed.
