US Investment Firm ‘Close To Everton FC deal’

Everton FC are reportedly close to being acquired by a US investment firm.

Miami-based 777 Partners are set to take control of the Premier League club, it has been reported, with the deal set to bring an end to the Farhad Moshiri era.

Moshiri first acquired a stake in Everton in February 2016, before increasing his shareholding in subsequent years.

While Moshiri’s time has been characterised by challenges on the field and flirtations with relegation, Everton have also developed an imposing stadium on the banks of the Mersey.

The stadium, once complete, will have a capacity of 52,888. An opening date is not yet known, but the club will not be starting the 2024/25 season at the Bramley Moore Dock ground.

Accounts for the 2021/22 season showed that turnover at Everton was down from a record level of £193.1m to £181m, although statutory losses reduced significantly from £121.3m to £44.7m.

Founded in 2015, 777 Partners has a portfolio of football and basketball club investments around the world, including Genoa Cricket and Football Club, Italy’s oldest professional football team.
