RB Leipzig sporting director Max Eberl has said that they have no intention of selling Yussuf Poulsen amid interest from Borussia Dortmund.
The transfer window is set to slam shut on Friday, and Borussia Dortmund are hoping to further bolster their squad before then. The Black and Yellows have around 8-10 million euros left to spend, and are said to be eyeing a new back-up striker and a centre-back.
Yussuf Poulsen is a player who has been heavily linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund in recent days. And Max Eberl has even revealed that a Bundesliga club has shown concrete interest in signing the Danish international. But he has also made it clear that RB Leipzig will not sell Poulsen this week, and are instead looking to extend his contract.
“I can confirm that there has recently been very concrete interest in Yussi from the Bundesliga,” Eberl told BILD. “We definitely have no intention of selling him. Instead, regardless of any inquiry, we are and have been interested in continuing his story at RB Leipzig and will sit down after the transfer window and talk about extending his contract beyond 2024.”
With Poulsen now increasingly likely to stay at RB Leipzig, it remains to be seen if Borussia Dortmund will turn their focus to other candidates. BILD claim that Poulsen was open to a move to BVB, and those in charge at the club could potentially renew their interest in the striker in the January transfer window.
