Everything to know about Premier League 2023-24

The marquee football league in England, the Premier League (PL) is all set to begin its 32nd season tomorrow, i.e. August 12 at 12:30 AM IST, in which the EFL 2022-23 Championship winners, Burnley FC will take on the PL defending champions, Manchester City.

Like always, there will be 20 clubs in the league, with each team playing 38 games in total in a round-robin format. These matches will mostly be held on Saturdays and Sundays.

The season will be the 125th season of top-flight English football overall and might see the Blues make English history if they win their four straight titles, making them the first men’s club to do so if they win.

To challenge them, the addition of notable players to Arsenal FC and Liverpool FC‘s rosters will undoubtedly liven up the upcoming campaign. Notably, the summer transfer window for the PL is currently open and will last until September 1, 2023.

There will be no Premier League games between January 14 and January 30, 2024, making this season the third to include a winter break.

The top seventeen clubs from the last campaign and the three teams that advanced from the Championship will make up the league’s twenty teams. The promoted teams, Burnley FC, Sheffield United FC, and Luton Town, had a one-, two-, and 31-year hiatus from the first division, respectively. Additionally, this will be Luton Town’s inaugural PL campaign. With their elevation to the top-tier league, Luton Town will make history as the first team to do so during the Premier League era and also the first-ever side to do so since promotion/relegation within the league’s fourth tier was permitted.
